MIKE

Born in the North East of England, in the same town as Richard Griffiths, Mike is an award winning, versatile character actor and award nominated filmmaker. With extensive experience playing earthy, charismatic roles on stage and screen; the guy next door who takes you on an intense emotional rollercoaster.

 

From an early age, Mike was fascinated with telling stories. His performance aspirations were seeded when the Stockton International Riverside Festival began, but it wasn't until he was in his 20's that the acting bug truly bit hard. After relocating to London, Mike trained at Redroof's Theatre School and Drama Studio London, before honing his skills at The Actors Gateway under the tuition of actress Eva Pope and the London branch of the world renowned Anthony Meindl Actors Workshop.

From independent films to international features, Mike has appeared on screen in 'The Genius of Turner' for the BBC; Series 2 of American crime docudrama 'Suspicion (October Films)'; the lead role in short films 'My Beautiful Wife Amanda', 'Embers' and 'The Undomesticated'; the upcoming 'Letters for Lost Lovers' (New Leaf Productions) the official music video for 'Rebecca Ferguson's hit song – Glitter and Gold' (Sony BGM); the multi-award winning short film 'Falsified' and 'Color Me Grey' for Taba Productions/BlackBox Creative as well as playing Warwick Holborough in 'Easy Virtue' (Ealing Studios) and appearing in the Oscar winning 'The King's Speech' (See Saw Films).

On stage, Mike's theatre credits include playing the lead roles in 'Experiment 150' at The White Bear Theatre; ‘Night Must Fall’ and ‘King John’ (Mary Wallace Theatre); ‘Master and Margarita’ (Barons Court Theatre); 'The Crystal Egg Live' (The Vaults); Oberon in ‘A Midsummer Nights Dream’ (The Lion and Unicorn Theatre); ‘The Duchess of Malfi’ (New Diorama Theatre) as part of the Camden Fringe Festival; ‘Lolita’ (Rabbit Hole Theatre) and 'Trainspotting' (Lord Stanley Theatre)

 

In 2018 he joined the London Cast of the hit family immersive show 'Dinosaurs in the Wild' when it transferred to the Greenwich Peninsula; followed by 'Lost Lagoon' (W12) for award winning Bompas and Parr.

 

Mike is creative director for Old Lamp Entertainment, the boutique award nominated production company he set up in 2010. With the company he wrote, produced and directed the short film 'The Journey of Alfred Small' with the project picking up award nominations for 'Best Ensemble Cast' at the Los Angeles Independent Film Festival Awards and Olympus Film Festival.

 

This was followed by the European Debut of 'The Crystal Egg Live' at The Vaults, a multi-media immersive adaptation of seminal writer H. G. Wells' work which he also wrote and produced to critical acclaim. He is currently developing a slate of projects for the company including 'Dorothy's War', 'Outrage: Rise of the Anarchist' and the comedy 'Berners Street'
